A Military Personnel Brutally Beat Two Rohingya Passers-By

Taung Pyo Let Wal, Arakan – Two Rohingya passers-by were brutally beaten by military personnel without reason and were forced to pay extortion in Taung Pyo Lat Wal sub-township of Arakan State.

Today, May 1, 2014 at 12:45 pm, two Rohingya passers-by were brutally beaten by military personnel belonging to a patrolling unit of the infantry regiment 535. The victims were identified as –

(1) Noor Hashim S/o Hussain Ahmed (Age 30) 
(2) Nurul Hayat S/o Mohammed Shafi (Age 27)

The victims were from South hamlet of Zee Bin Chaung village tract. They have been blocked in Yay Dwin Pyin village tract by the military when they were on their way to home from Nga Ku Ra market. They were questioned by the military personnel and were beaten without any reason. At the end they were forced to give two packets of cigarettes as extortion. 

Although that happened in front of many Rohingyas no one was able to save them because the authorities are always looking for an opportunity to carry out a massacre like in Duchiradan.

An infantry unit comprised of 11 military personnel arrived today, May 1, 2014 at 9 am and are stationed at South hamlet of Yay Dwin Pyin village tract.
