Kyain Chaung, Arakan - A fire was started in Kyain Chaung village in Maungdaw Township at approximately 11pm on October 29, 2013. Kyain Chaung, or as known in Rohingya as "Bowli Bazar" near the Bangladesh border, has a business area. The shops are all owned by Rohingya Muslims.

The fire was started at an electronics and iron shop in the north-east side of the market. More than half of the shops have been burnt and many others damaged while fighting the blaze.

At the markets gate, Sentry Duties (Guards) and a Rohingya/Rakhine peace group watched the blaze as it enveloped the shops.

The fire was extinguished at around 2am on October 30, 2013. As the market is owned by Rohingyas, many villagers could be heard saying that Rakhine villagers were responsible for burning the shops down.
