The whole world is watching the so called Democratization process of Myanmar shaping progressively at the horizon. But the whole world failed to understand that REALLY most of the Bamas never wish to practice Democracy. They even fail to realize that they are just wishing in their hearts and minds to establish a Bama Buddhist Empire. Bamas do not wish to compete the Ethnic and Religious Minorities on the level playing field.

Just think deeply about the following truths:
Most of the Petroleum, Gas, Minerals, and Jades etc are in theEthnic Minority areas and if they are given autonomy what will be left for Bamas?
If they gave EQUAL RIGHTS to Burmese-Chinese, Burmese Muslims, Rohingyas etc Bamas would be handicapped in economy.
Religious freedom to Minority Religious Groups: Christians, Muslims and Hindu etc….would jeopardise the upper hand they are taking in all the fields.

On top of those basic facts, most of the Burmese on both side of political divide could not hide the feelings of deep seated hatred and antagonism i.e. Islamophobia toward all the Muslims in Myanmar.

Copies of the 120 page long Anti-Muslim booklets which is titled, ‘We are afraid that our race will disappear’ and “Burmese Citizens Beware!” pamphlets are distributed in most of Myanmar nowadays.

“… Malaysia and Indonesia were once Buddhist countries in history (Sic), but unfortunately the Muslims used (their) methods (to expand their religion) so successfully that they have become Muslim countries; Buddhism has disappeared from these countries…. Bear in mind that the four social causes of the Myanmar Military must be accomplished….”

It continues to accuse their victim Muslims in Myanmar with long chronology of alleged crimes and faults against Bama Buddhists. In a flick of the slick magician’s hand majority strong Bamas are portrayed effectively as victims of systemic Muslim attacks and scheme.

Burmese Citizens – Beware!

The Muslims living in Burma are attempting to expand their religion while destroying Buddhism in Burma by using the following ways:

1) Land: All the land in the country shall be owned by the Muslims.

2) Money: To organize Buddhists to become Muslims using the power of money.

3) Women: To organize Buddhist women to get married with Muslims using money and other ways.

4) Doctrine: To preach Muslim doctrine in every place.

5) State power: After successfully using these above methods and [the] majority of the people become Muslim, to take state power.

Although many people now believe that these pamphlets are meant to incite unrest, many people still fall for them every time and the damage done leaves an indelible mark on the politico-racial-religious-relation history of Burma or Myanmar.

Worse part is the present President U Thein Sein and Daw Aung San suu Kyi led NLD failed to stop or even ignore their duty to denounce these Islamophobic propaganda. Daw Suu just sent out the statement requesting both side to stop fighting without acknowledging that Muslims are victims.

Perhaps most upsetting to Bama Buddhists is the idea of Muslim men marrying Bama women and converting them to Islam. Throughout military rule in Burma, successive regimes have used the spectre of a Muslim takeover to whip up nationalist sentiments. In particular, when anti-regime tensions are running high, staged-incidents of intolerable behavior by Muslims always seem to pop up and are used to channel anger into communal conflicts.

There also included instructions to local people not to buy goods or dine in Muslim shops and restaurants.

1) People are told not to buy things at Muslim shops. They are advised not to eat or buy from shops with 786, Bismillah or Halal logos.

2) They must not trade with Muslims.

3) People are not allowed to rent houses and land to Muslims.

4) Shops are told to display the logo ‘ARAHAN’ – Symbol of Buddhism.

5) People must not buy things from the shops that do not have that logo.

(Excerpts from an anti-Muslim pamphlet in Burmese, distributed in Rangoon, Mandalay and many areas in Myanmar.)

They are openly selling or sometimes distributing the copies of that book, some tapes and pamphlets made from the gist of that book. Radical Bamas distribute them to many Buddhist monasteries throughout the country. The government is also doing nothing about it.

The whole book is written to demonstrate the anti-Muslim sentiment existing in Bamas and the authorities turning a blind eye, although realising that this had lead to very dangerous and disastrous consequences and the pressure in Bama-boiler is increasing again and ready to explode. Although the Hardliners who wish to derail the present democratization process is trying many Bamas including some monks and a lot of NLD members areswallowing the hook, line, and sinker

Muslims in Burma have been regularly denied the right to freedom of religion. They have also been subject to various forms of persecution and discrimination. There were credible reports that in early 1999 anti-Islamic booklets were widely distributed throughout the country through the USDA, a SPDC-sponsored mass organization. The All Burma Young Monks Association (ABYMU) denied military allegations that they had printed and distributed the booklets. The reports of these booklets followed other reports in recent years of SPDC’s instigation or toleration of violence against Muslims. These booklets didn’t indicate where they were printed or who wrote them, but they shared a basic message: Muslims are about to subvert all other religions. The anti-Muslim booklets explain how this had happened in Iraq and Indonesia, and how Muslims in Burma are about to turn the country into an Islamic state. During the widespread distribution of these pamphlets, communal riots were in Myinggyan, Myinmu, Myanaung and Tarmwe(Rangoon). It has been noted by some in Burma that in the past, Muslim people have been made the scapegoats for the government’s economic failures, and the resulting religious conflicts distracted people from these failures.

2. As Human Rights Watch reported in its 2001 report, “Crackdown on Burmese Muslims”, monks, working with the support of the government, have distributed anti-Muslim pamphlets such as the 2001 tract “Myo Pyauk Hmar Soe Kyauk Hla Tai (The Fear of Losing One’s Race). Distribution of the pamphlets was also facilitated by the Union of Solidarity and Development Association (USDA). The USDA is the civilian support wing of the military regime,

While the idea of monks actually leading rioters may seem unusual, certain details make it less so. Myanmar’s large and much feared military intelligence service, the Directorate of Defense Security Intelligence is commonly believed to have agents working within the monkhood. The monks have always been courageous supporters of the democracy movement. It would seem that monitoring dissident monks is not their only function.

Human Rights Watch also reported that monks in the 2001 riots were carrying mobile phones, a luxury not readily available to the Myanmar population – as very few without government connections can afford them. It is also reported that there was a clear split between monks who provoked violence and those who did not. It has been suggested by Human Rights Watch and others that these facts may reflect the presence of agent provocateurs among the monks. That suggestion may not be far off.

If violence does once again break out, it will be agitators at the lead. And this religious violence threatens to divert the world’s attention from the real issue in Myanmar – the continuing deprivation of its people’s prosperity by an unpopular military dictatorship.

Burma has a long and unfortunate history of discrimination against its Muslim citizens. With precedents for communal violence set in the past, the State Law and Order Restoration Council (SLORC) have found it expedient on numerous occasions to exploit religious and ethnic tension, especially when it can be directed towards Muslim people, to divide the public and distract attention from other political and social issues.

Muslims were explicitly targeted for persecution. Acts of violence, destruction, and sacrilege perpetrated by SLORC soldiers against Burmese Muslims. For instance, in July 1988, pamphlets supposedly written by Muslims encouraging fellow Muslims to marry Burmese women suddenly appeared in Taunggyi and other towns where anti-military feelings were growing after the student demonstrations in Rangoon. As expected, Muslim-Buddhist conflicts broke out, and the stores and homes of Muslims were attacked and looted. Such pamphlets have shown up several times in Burma over the past ten years, including in October 1996 in Rangoon, when Islamophobic pamphlets appeared.

Former PM Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad With Dr. Ko Ko Gyi

Dear Bama Buddhist friends,

Please just kindly look at Indians and Chinese in Malaysia. They speak their own Indian & Chinese languages and even go to their respective schools. They read their own newspapers, watch their respective TV, Video, movies etc.

In contrast to them, if you look at Myanmar Muslims: we speak, read, wear and behave as Myanmars and tried to assimilate ourselves into the mainstream population.

But the limit is Islam, which most of us would never compromise.

Like the other religious people around the world like Buddhists,Christians, Hindu, Jews; we Muslims are willing to even sacrifice our lives if needed.

DASSK is right when she stated: “Well, there are people who think that it’s right to do any thing in the name of their religion, their race, their family, or any organization to which they may belong.”

So it is better not to start a fire of racial conflicts or riots. It would never end as all the people on either side of religious divide always thinks that they right.

Some elements of Myanmar Military used to play with this fire frequently and THE WHOLE WORLD knows about this.

And please kindly STOP blaming the PRESENT MYANMAR MUSLIMS when your fellow religious comrades are committing atrocities on us.

And stop calling us Kalas. We follow the Islam originated from Arab. Actually Myanmars have inherited more Kala culture, customs, and literature etc. If you call us Kalas we could also start to call you all as KALA DEINS.

Peace be upon the whole Myanmar.

Open letter to the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia to help lobby for the Myanmar Muslims in Malaysia.
Former PM Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad With Dr. Ko Ko Gyi
As a Minority Religious Group in Myanmar, Myanmar Muslims must try to made peace not only with the majority Bamas but with all the other Minority Ethnic Groups and Minority Religious Groups. We must not only engage with the people but with the government, military, opposition and all the democratic forces i.e. we must engage and try to work together with all the people on the both side of the political divide.

Some of the Muslims from Myanmar tried to migrate, temporarily or permanently: as refugees, asylum seekers, undocumented migrants and some with the Work Permits or Employment Passes.

But we are surprised that even in the Muslim Dominant countries like Malaysia, we are discriminated unfairly when compared to other migrants. We understand that most of the governments need to maintain a cordial diplomatic relations with Myanmar Government for the economic reasons. And also understand that they could not freely open the door to Myanmar Migrants only as there are other races and religious groups who would jump the bandwagon to migrate into your country.

But when they could welcome other Muslim Migrants like: Acehnese, Indonesians, Southern Thais, Southern Pilipinos, Bosnians etc but I am sad to see that they have the heart to neglect the Muslims from Myanmar.

I still remember the Former Deputy Home Minister late Tan Sri Megat Junid Megat Ayoub’s statement in the Malaysian newspapers, about 25 yrs ago, that Rohingyas were not recognized as refugees, must be arrested as the illegal immigrants, must be subject to work in the prisons to earn for their deportation fees. And one Former PM went to Thailand and spoke in the Bangkok Post’s interview to push back the Rohingya boat people into the deep Indian Sea and not to allow them to land on ASEAN shores.

So please kindly lobby with the Malaysian Government, ASEAN and OIC to kindly change their hostile attitude on the Muslim Migrants from Myanmar.

My “learned” Political Friends used to advice me not to mix politics and religion. The origin of this concept started from the separation of church and state idea where in ancient times Church-state mixing and melding in the governing of a country. And the monarchs also used to rule the country as if they were mandated by the God or claimed as if they themselves were gods so they declared that they have the Divine Right to rule over the people.

Since General Ne Win’s time, successive Myanmar Military Governments rejected the Myanmar Muslims’ enlistment as Myanmar People who practiced the Islam concept, started by U Razak. The authorities wrongly claimed that all Myanmar (may be they confused with Bama) are Buddhists, there were no Bama Muslims (Myanmar Muslims) and the person concerned must be a migrant from India subcontinent. (They wrongly mixed up because Buddhism and Hinduism originated from there but ignorant that origin of Islam is Arabia.)

They use the religion of the person to decide for the political and social position in the country. If Burmese Chinese Ne Win, San YuKhin Nyunt and Burmese Indians Sein Win, Mg Di, were Muslims they would be chopped off from the political hierarchy.

Just imagine that if the ROHINGYAS were Buddhists, they would never suffer these rejection by the successive military governments, Bamas and Rakhines.

Just because we are Muslims, Burmese Muslims were denied our political and other rights. Since Ne Win’s era, millions of Muslims of Burma or Myanmar have been victims of discrimination, preferences and exclusions in view of their race, skin color, religion, national or ethnic origin and form of expression, causing extreme suffering and even loss of lives and properties.

So we, Muslims in Myanmar have the RIGHTS to use our religion to POLITICALLY FIGHT for getting back all our rights. After all, Islamophobia is used in Myanmar and Internationally. We have the right to mix Politics and religion to promote for the TRUE SECULARUNION OF MYANMAR where there are equal rights for all.

Those Anti-BBC disguised Racists Anti-Rohingyas postings are good or a blessing in disguise because those so called Democracy loving Myanmars are hitting and protesting the BBC or an important Institute of the British and inadvertently advertising or doing a propaganda campaign for all the Muslims in Myanmar.

Anti BBC campaign:

1.Exposed who is who in Myanmar people in general and in the so called “democratic” forces.

2.Deep rooted; Xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Indian, anti-Bengali, anti-Minority Races, anti-minority religious spirits

3.Immature concept of Democracy, Human Rights, Equal Rights for all, Minorities Rights and Rule of Majority means protect the rights of minorities. Of course the minority must also respect the majority.

They angrily wrote in their postings, words revealed their Xenophobic ideas, anti Bengali, anti Indian and some ended even with Islamophobic slurs. There are numerous Racial Profiling. Some are inciting the Genocide. US, UK and EU need to think about all these IMMATURE remarks.

Even that campaign is highlighting the effect of the Islamophobic propaganda of successive military governments on ALL the Muslims of Myanmar. You see some IDIOTS try to do divide and rule policy by writing a post, “အိႏိၵယႏြယ္ဖြားျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံသားမ်ားသို ့ အိတ္ဖြင့္ေပးစာ” insulting all Muslims as Indians. We should write back “အိႏိၵယႏြယ္ဖြားျမန္မာမ်ားသို ့ အိတ္ဖြင့္ေပးစာ” or အိႏိၵယႏြယ္ဖြား RakhineBuddhists မ်ားသို ့ အိတ္ဖြင့္ေပးစာ …Good keep on writting like this, the outside world would know about the widespread Islamophobia and Discrimination on ALL THE MUSLIMS IN MYANMAR.

You are right Ko Aung Thu, These books are not written by our good Bama Buddhist friends but byGeneral Ne Win and General Khin Nyunt‘s Military Intelligent Agent Provocateurs . They all would go to hell even according to Buddhism.

Once late Dr Kyaw Nyein from Mdy (very famous Burmese Muslim doctor love by the Mdy monks and Thilayins) told me the following true story.

During the Racial Riots in Mdy (90′s) he arranged for the Mandalay division Ulama, Maulavis elders to see and give respect to the Mdy division Thanga Naryaka Sayadaw. Sayadaws were (are) very good, kind hearted and ….peace agreement to complaint directly to Sayadaws and Muslim leaders…Myataung Tike elders shown the Muslims a room full with those two books, အမ်ိဳးေပ်ာက္မွာစိုးေၾကာက္စရာ နဲ႕ တစ္ျခား ဘာသာေရး ျပသနာ ျဖစ္မဲ့ စာအုပ္ေတြ …When Muslim elders did not know how to deal with thosebooks and pamphlets…Sayadaws laugh and told them…MI Agents sent all these, just put all in the field infront of Myataung and burn them. Sayadaw ordered the Koyins to help the Muslim youths. Sayadaws told that if the Muslims carry with two lorries, MI Agents would just confiscated and distribute to other place. We have no problem in Myanmar between the Buddhists and Muslims. Only the MIs and secret agents are creating.

My clinic was in Pae Poke Tan, near Masoeyein new/old and adjacent to Shwe Einpin monastries. 50% of my pts (ie 35++ out of 70 pts I see every day) were Monks and relatives. Even if a drunkard made noise near my clinic, young Monks would pulled them away. My clinic was broken in one night. Monks investigated and arrested the thieves. You see, there is mutual trust and love amongst all religions in Mdy. Even Sayadaws protect the Muslims.

Even German’s Hitler could not eliminate Jews by killing 6 million. Now you could not do GENOCIDE by killing one million ofRohingyas or 20 millions (ha ha you could say 2% only, only fools will believe) of Muslims in Myanmar.

Yes, Tun Dr. Mahathir, you are absolutely right in saying, “Muslims in the country should be concerned about the plight of those in need of assistance to avoid the possibility of a deviation in their faith. If no one looks after them and they are in difficulty, they may become attracted to those who offer them aid.”

Although Tun just mean the Malays but Tun should notice that successive Malaysian Governments have ignored the plights ofBurmese Muslims and Rohingyas in Malaysia.
I am sad to see that some of the MyanmarPhD, MSc holders and Medical doctors have been accepted easily as citizens in Canada and Australia etc. Some Burmese Muslim andRohingya refugees were also accepted byWestern Christians. George Soros, American Jew and Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu ChiFoundation from Taiwan were actively helping them.

I am afraid that what Tun said about Muslims in the country should be concerned about the plight of those in need of assistance to avoid the possibility of a deviation in their faith. If Malaysian Government just show some mercy and accept all of them by giving ID Cards like the ones given to 30,000 Acehnese or thousands of Bosnians or IMM 13 as given in East Malaysia, will be enough for them. No need to consider giving refugee status or citizenship but just let them legally stay and study here.

Please read TDM’s concern for the danger of needy Muslims’ deviation in their faith at Malaysiakini’s, “Don’t be hasty to act over apostasy, says Mahathir.”

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the government should not be hasty in taking action on the alleged attempt to convert Muslims in the country into other faiths.

“It has to be studied first… at times the allegation is true, sometimes (it is) not true.

“If we are hasty in our investigation, then when (the action is) wrong, people will no longer believe us.

“Wait until correct information is obtained,” he told reporters after attending a breaking of the fast at Masjid Al-Ehsan, Batu 3, Kodiang, near Jerlun last night.

Also present were his wife Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and son Mukhriz, who is also the deputy international trade and industry minister and member of parliament for Jerlun.

Dr Mahathir said Muslims in the country should be concerned about the plight of those in need of assistance to avoid the possibility of a deviation in their faith.

“If no one looks after them and they are in difficulty, they may become attracted to those who offer them aid,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahathir said the people in this country must choose the right leader if they wished to see Malaysia continue to remain ahead in terms of development compared to most of the neighbouring countries.

“If we choose the wrong leader, they (the other neighbouring countries) will overtake us.

“Don’t choose people who only want to become the prime minister but do not want to do anything,” he added.
